Wedding balloons have been incredibly popular this year and the trend looks set to continue, and it’s no wonder, if you are looking to create atmosphere and impact at your wedding then balloons will deliver. An increased focus on style and design have led wedding balloons to become the contemporary choice for wedding decor.
Because we love dressing weddings so much we have pulled together a few of our favourite ideas on how you can use balloons for maximum impact at your wedding. Balloons are a cost effective way of adding a pop of colour or touch of elegance to your venue and they make great momentos to give away to guests too!
Make an entrance
A balloon arch or garland can make a stunning entrance that will wow your guests as well as being the perfect spot for a bit of insta love! Organic balloon installations work particularly well here, add in some flowers or foliage for a stylish modern twist.
Line the aisle
Giant balloons with tassels or ivy garlands make for a dramatic walkway, as these balloons have a lot of lift you could even add fairy lights to the balloon tail for a pretty glow, this would be absolutely perfect for winter weddings.
Who says the bride needs to carry flowers? A bouquet of balloons would make quite a statement, we just love this picture of these bright and bold balloons, truly memorable and so photogenic. Balloons are also the perfect choice for flower girls and boys to carry down the aisle, super cute!
If you have a large venue with high ceilings then giant balloons look spectacular as table centrepieces, we love the idea of pegging Polaroid photos of your guests onto ribbon to make unique and personal balloon tails. For smaller venues confetti or feather filled balloons work perfectly as do the perfectly round Orb balloons. You can also add your table numbers to the balloons so your guests can easily find their seats.
Personalised giant balloons make perfect top table decor and are great for photos too, add your married name and date for that extra personal touch.
We love the idea of using two giant Mr & Mrs balloons as a guest book, place the balloons in an appropriate space, leave some cute luggage style tags and pens out and ask your guests to write their messages for the happy couple and tie them to the balloon tails. You can then use the tail as a garland to keep and hang at home as a memento of the day.
Hide any imperfections
Balloons are great for camouflaging any less than attractive features in your venue, with some clever placement, eyesores like noticeboards and pipework can disappear. Organic balloon swags and garlands are perfect for this and can be created in any shape or size to fit where they need to.
They make the perfect photo prop
People love balloons, they are guaranteed to raise a smile and we think balloons are SO photogenic, they look amazing as backdrops or photo props. Give somebody a balloon to hold and you have a great photo opportunity.
Mix them up
Take a balloon garland or arch, throw in some flowers, foliage, honeycombs or pom poms and you can create magic! So much more cost effective than fresh flowers, a balloon/flower/pompom garland is a great way to dress your venue.
Just Married Car
Adorn your car with as many balloons as you can to create the perfect way to end the day. Make sure they are tied on well and get your photographer ready to take some final shots as you ride off into the sunset together!

A note on balloons and the environment – we hope you choose to have balloons as part of your big day, if you do and you use latex balloons, you can congratulate yourself on the fact that not only do you have great taste, but you are also doing your bit for the environment. Latex balloons are a natural material, made from rubber trees which are grown and harvested in forests certified by the Rainforest Alliance and they are biodegradable, which is great news. Please however, do not release any balloons into the environment as what goes up must come down and released balloons effectively fall back down to earth as litter, you can read our full guide to balloons and the environment here.
